Air taxi from Archer Aviation, USA
Archer Midnightlaunch date, fares and status
Archer is in the fourth and final phase of FAA type certification and, since May 2026, in a UAE Restricted Type Certificate program meant to allow limited commercial flights in Abu Dhabi. Its piloted flights so far use runway takeoffs and landings, including Salinas-Monterey in July 2026 and Salinas-Hollister on 4 September 2026; Archer still targets its first piloted hover-to-wingborne transition in the second half of 2026.

Questions people ask
How much will an Archer Midnight ride cost?
No fare has been announced. Archer has said prices should be in the range of premium ride-hailing such as Uber Black, and final fares will depend on each market. Press estimates for Abu Dhabi trips vary and have not been confirmed by Archer.
When can you ride the Archer Midnight?
Not yet. Abu Dhabi officials are targeting the first passenger flights in late 2026 or early 2027, once the UAE regulator grants the remaining approvals. In the U.S., Archer plans early operations under the federal eIPP pilot program, and it is lined up to fly visitors during the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Do you need a pilot's license to ride the Archer Midnight?
No. Passengers ride with an operator such as Abu Dhabi Aviation, and a commercial pilot flies the aircraft.
Has the Archer Midnight actually flown?
Yes, but not yet in its full air taxi mode with a pilot. An uncrewed Midnight made a hover-to-wingborne transition in June 2024, and piloted flights since June 2025 have used runway takeoffs, including city-to-city round trips in California in 2026. Archer began piloted vertical takeoff testing in March 2026 and is targeting a piloted transition flight in the second half of 2026.
